Since its establishment, Ysgol Llanhari has set great importance and value on a close and open partnership between school and home. This special relationship is a crucial factor in the success of every pupil and gives a firm foundation and strong support to the individual’s educational, social and emotional development and progress. Support for Pupils.

One of the main school aims is to ensure a caring, supportive ethos where each person is valued as an individual. To promote this happy and safe environment the school has a well established pastoral care system.

As well as maintaining and raising standards of achievement, every teacher has a responsibility for the care and welfare of pupils. Every pupil has a Personal Tutor who has a key role in the pastoral care system.
The Personal Tutor meets his/her group twice a day and comes to know them well, and therefore, is in an excellent position to offer advice and support.

The pastoral system along with Progress File processes ensure
that each individual has a personal informal interview with his/her Personal Tutor. It offers an opportunity to discuss various aspects of school life as well as monitoring academic and personal development. It is also offers an opportunity to discuss any difficulties or concerns.

The Personal Tutor works closely with the Progress Leader and parents in order to support and promote the full and successful development of each individual. Their work is supported further by the Social, Emotional and Behavioural Co-ordinator, the Deputy and the Headteacher.
