SKILLS

Solving mathematical problems, unfamiliar problems or problems in unfamiliar contexts.
Communicating orally and in various written forms.
Reasoning mathematically and explaining their reasoning to others.
Measuring and calculating skills, researching a variety of situations which lead to algebraic or graphical representations.
Developing a deeper understanding of the characteristics of shape, positions and movement (transformations).
Collect, analyse and interpret realistic data, communicate and present results clearly and concisely using language, notation and correct mathematical terminology.

AIMING HIGHER

Extended tasks are given during lessons and extra help is available every lunchtime in the Department.

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT YOUR CHILD IN MATHEMATICS

Practise basic skills with your child – adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, tables.
Ensure your child brings essential equipment to school: pen, pencil, ruler, protractor, compass, rubber, calculator, coloured pencils.
Check that your child completes unfinished classwork and homework.
Encourage your child to ask for help when needed.
